Seven Oaks
Located just north of downtown, straddling the Red River and Main Street, the Seven Oaks area is filled with parks—the largest of which is Kildonan Park. Seven Oaks is also home to Winnipeg’s famed Rainbow Stage—and newly desirable residential pockets with easy access to the great restaurants of North Main, including the legendary Lebanese restaurant Baraka Pita Bakery and the charming French bakery A l’Epi de Ble.
The neighbourhood was historically a centre for Ukrainian immigrants, many of whose descendants still call the area home, while the diverse range of languages you’ll hear here include Tagalog – particularly in The Maples, which is akin to a little Philippines – Polish, Portuguese and Punjabi. Given the area's storied history, you’ll find a few noteworthy museums in the area, while many of the houses are handsome bungalows with quaint back and front yards located on quiet tree-lined streets.
Sub neighbourhoods include: Rivergrove, Riverbend, West Kildonan, Garden City, The Maples, Amber Trails, Mandalay West, Old Kildonan, Jefferson, Leila, Margaret Park, Templeton-Sinclair.
