Consider Canada City Alliance Wins Award for Marketing Canada

September 25, 2015: Ottawa, ON – The Consider Canada City Alliance (CCCA) was honored with an Award of Excellence for outstanding contribution to the Marketing of Canada and Inward Foreign Direct Investment at the inaugural FDI Canada Forum on 23 September in Saskatoon.

In presenting the award, the FDI Canada Forum cited CCCA’s partnership approach to promoting Canada as a location for FDI across the globe. They lauded the alliance as a great example of cities working together, with support from the federal government, to attract investment to Canada, which ultimately leads to economic growth and job creation.

Accepting on behalf of the CCCA, alliance member and vice-chair Ian McKay, CEO of Vancouver Economic Commission, said “The eleven members of the CCCA have long recognized the difficult and highly competitive environment for attracting FDI. The Canadian economy has relied heavily on foreign trade and investment. With global competition increasing, it is essential that the “Canada” message be clear and consistent. We have worked hard to ensure close collaboration between our members and the Federal government to create and present a clear and consistent value proposition to foreign investors. That messaging is further enhanced by coordination amongst all partners that ensures investors have the information to make the best location decision and get “white glove” service to establish a successful investment in Canada”.

“All our members support initiatives to diversify and grow foreign direct investments in their respective jurisdictions. By sharing our knowledge and know-how and by working closely with DFATD, we help raise the profile of Canada as a global destination for business,” said Carl Viel, chair of the CCCA and president and CEO of Quebec International. “The success of Quebec International in attracting foreign investment this year is proof that cooperation and collaboration works.”

The FDI Canada Forum is the first and only foreign direct investment (FDI) specific conference for those involved in Canadian FDI attraction, trends, statistics and policy. It’s the forum for Canadian business, government and academia to come together to discuss, debate and shape Canadian FDI policy.
