A group of some of Winnipeg’s most innovative businesses and organizations is taking a leadership role in machine learning, and banking on big federal dollars to push it over the top.
As reported in the Winnipeg Free Press, Enterprise Machine Intelligence and Learning Initiative (EMILI), whose mission is to advance Canada’s global machine learning leadership, is already ahead of the curve in terms of the number and expertise of local companies taking advantage of deep learning algorithms.
There are high hopes the organization will be on the radar for federal dollars as part of an anticipated $800 million innovation fund the Trudeau government is expected to make good on in the spring federal budget, YES! Winnipeg team leader Vince Barletta told the Free Press.
